My name is Kalu Okorie, a male, born in the city of Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria, in West Africa. My native language is Igbo but I speak English too. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Public health from Babcock University in Nigeria and currently taking few pre-requisites courses in Delaware County Community College to study Nursing in Drexel University. I am a Public health Professional/data analyst and a co-author to few articles. I love playing soccer and table tennis, I love singing and playing instruments as well.
I have worked as an administrative assistant in Nigeria for two years and as a Medical Outreach/Research coordinator for four years before migrating to the United states of America in 2018 to join my wife. I am currently working in Walmart as a department Manager even though that's not my line of profession but had to do something since I am new to the environment, until I find my way back into my desired career. I love dogs although I don't have any. I have been married four year but have no children yet. My favorite writer is Chinua Achebe, a Nigerian Novelist and a poet. I also like Stephen Covey author of 7 habits of highly effective people and my favorite composer is John Williams. The type of writing I enact most often is letter writing, quotes, and texting and occasionally , articles. I write poetry and songs, I usually write in my quiet moments and with life trending issues. I have my pen and paper always with me everywhere I go and on my phone too and I write for the purpose of inspiration and motivations. I never took writing very serious in high school, I felt it was only meant for letter writing and texting until I got into college, I never gave much attention to writing, I felt I just had to write to pass my English class or research paper, but I got better as I advanced in my career and this class will teach and is beginning to give me a paradigm shift from what I used to know about writing which will help reshape my author identity, and eventually improve my writing skills by exploring many process of writing, and making meaning out of my writing, that will be appealing to my audience. For more insight into my identity, please review my answers to the Proust Questionnaire and my letter to my author-self. |
